Chapter Meeting, November 12th
On Thursday, November 12th, we ahad Rod Woten from Coldwater Guide Service speaking. Rod is the principal guide and started the business in 2012 with the sole intent of making Iowans aware of the excellent trout fishing our state has to offer. Additionally, Coldwater Guide Service offers guided smallmouth trips on the Middle Raccoon River and can also provide spinning tackle for their clients who prefer not to fly fish.
In addition to his fly fishing pursuits, Rod has been a professional ice fisherman for nearly two decades as an Ice Team Pro member and is also on the pro staff for Clam Outdoors, Cold Snap Outdoors, Vexilar Marine Electronics, Grizzly coolers and the Altoona Bass Pro Shops store. With such an extensive background in hardwater pursuits, Rod is able to also offer guided trips on the ice when he's not busy competing or running an ice fishing tournament.
We had an informal discussion about what Rod loves about fly fishing in Iowa's Driftless Region, how we could get more people involved in the sport, conservation efforts, as well as some discussion on some tactice, techniques and tricks that allow him to keep his customers happy.
